Frequently Asked Questions.....

How does the process work?

Tattoo ink is removed by using a specific wavelength which pass through the skin to target the pigment in the ink. The rapid absorption of light energy causes the tattoo ink to break down into smaller pieces which are then filtered out through your body and disposed of. During the treatment your skin will briefly turn white over the treated area, this is called frosting, you may also encounter minimal bleeding. After the treatment ointment and a bandage will be applied to the area. Aftercare instructions will be explained in detail.

How much does it cost?

What type of laser is used?

You will be treated with the Revlite Q-switched Nd: YAG laser which has multiple wavelengths that enable me to treat a variety of colors with minimal trauma to the skin.

Is laser tattoo removal painful?

Each person reacts to pain differently, much like getting the tattoo, there will be some mild discomfort. The feeling is very much like being snapped with a rubber band. Treatments typically last under a minute and most clients report little to no discomfort within minutes after a treatment. *For those of you that may be feeling nervous* Free test shots are available during your consultation so you know what to expect.

How many treatments are needed?

There are many variables that will determine this. The age, location, colors and quality of the tattoo plus your bodies ability to process the ink are some of the factors to be considered in total number of treatments. This will be discussed in more detail during your consultation.

How long do I have to wait in between treatments?

Each person heals differently, I generally suggest waiting 4 to 6 weeks, however, depending on other factors more time may be needed. There is no downside to waiting longer in between treatments. The area is typically healed within 7 to 14 days but the ink will continue to be absorbed by your body over the next 4 to 8 weeks.

Can I have my tattoo lightened for a cover up?

Yes, this is a great way to shorten the amount of treatments needed as well as giving your tattoo artist a better chance for a full, successful cover up.

Can I have only part of my tattoo removed?

Yes, I can remove sections or small pieces of a tattoo without affecting the parts you want to keep.

Can I have multiple tattoos treated or large tattoos treated completely during one treatment?

Yes, with some exceptions depending on size and location. There are limits of course due to skin trauma and proper healing.

Will there be any scarring?

The chances of scarring are very low if treatments are properly spaced and healing instructions are followed. There is always a slight risk of hyper-pigmentation or hypo-pigmentation, which is lighter or darker areas of skin pigmentation to the treated area. This will be discussed in more detail during your consultation.

Will I see changes after each treatment?

Depending on the colors being removed your tattoo may actually darken before it starts to lighten. This is perfectly normal, it usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks to notice any change.

What should I do to prepare for my treatment?

Avoid using any lotions or perfumes on or near area to be treated. Stay out of the sun! I cannot treat sun burnt skin. Drink water, eat and dress comfortably in clothing that will easily allow access to the area . Shaving any hair from the area the night before is helpful as well.
